On the Waterfront

One of the most famous films of all time is On the Waterfront starring Marlon Brando.

It was made in 1954 so I guess most brides will not even have been born when the film won eight Oscars. But it’s possible they’ve since heard one of the most famous lines in movie history that was featured in the film: Brando’s “I could have been a contender”.

And I can tell them that Noosa has its very own contender on the waterfront for top wedding reception venue. The Noosa Waterfront Restaurant, run by Marino and Stephanie Maioli, lies in a beautiful spot at the end of Gympie Terrace next to the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club.

The setting is quite magical: as well as being by the river there are pretty grassed areas with big fig trees that are lit up with fairy lights at night. Light and bright with an indoor/outdoor feel, the restaurant’s large French windows open on two sides facing the water. The clean, modern and predominantly white décor lends itself beautifully to wedding parties. It can accommodate 120 seated or 150 for a cocktail-style function. Just check the stunning wedding pics in their facebook page.

I had the pleasure of meeting Stephanie recently. What a gorgeous lady! Very passionate about weddings – that’s just as well because The Noosa Waterfront hosted 50 of them last year!

Stephanie offers some great advice to brides: “Try to allow the professionals to take care of their side of things, the last thing they want to do is let anyone down and they really do know what they are doing.” She feels many brides take on a lot more than they realise in planning a wedding; they often already have busy jobs and can become quite stressed at times.

Another thing that makes The Noosa Waterfront a great option for receptions is that there is a couple of perfect wedding ceremony venues close by: the first is Chaplin Park – a wide, grassy area close to the river just a short stroll away across the little pedestrian bridge over the canal, (check out the love-locks on the bridge!); the other spot is the lawn area just a stone’s throw away from the restaurant.

Stephanie is also proud of the fact that their restaurant is accessible by boat. Brides take note: the Noosa River gondola or the American Dreamboat is a perfect way to arrive in style!

So my tip is, when it comes to Noosa reception venues, The Noosa Waterfront is a real contender!
